Project-Goal:

Migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL of an internal application of the costumer

Tasks:

- Handle complex business logic currently implemented in multiple Oracle Packages, including:

- Custom types, cursors, global variables.

- Java calls from DB, mailing from DB.

- Migration process:

1. Package Migration: Generate PostgreSQL code via AI, adjust manually for compilation.

2. Package Validation: Test functionality of migrated packages by executing functions and fixing issues.

- Collaborate with different teams to resolve problems and find alternative solutions.

- Document all relevant information and advise stakeholders on technologies.

Requirements:

- PostgreSQL Development:

Strong experience in DB development.

Ability to validate and test PostgreSQL packages.

- Oracle Knowledge:

Understanding of Oracle Packages, Types, and DB-specific features.

Awareness of differences between Oracle and PostgreSQL.

- Migration Expertise:

Converting Oracle Packages and Types to PostgreSQL.

Adjusting code for compatibility and performance.

- Debugging & Problem-Solving:

Identify and fix functional issues in migrated code.

Suggest alternative solutions when needed.

- Performance Optimization:

Improve performance of converted objects (Types, Views, Materialized Views).

- Collaboration & Communication:

Work closely with different teams.

Report issues and progress in daily meetings.

- Documentation:

Record all steps, changes, and validations clearly.

- Advisory Skills:

Provide guidance on technologies and best practices.
